Cranial-Sacral Therapy

Cranial-Sacral Therapy is a hands-on approach that involves “listening” to the body’s subtle rhythms with the hands and detecting patterns of resistance and congestion. The emphasis craniosacral therapy is to gently encourage and enhance the body’s own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities.

The cranial-sacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face, and mouth — which make up the cranium — down to the sacrum or tailbone.

Since this system influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalance or dysfunction in the cranial-sacral system could cause sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities.

The treatment is very gentle and non-invasive, where the practitioner introduces subtle suggestions with his/her hands to help restore balance in areas that have been become sluggish. With skilled and sensitive touch, the practitioner can assist the body to resolve patterns of disorder, thereby encouraging a revitalization of tissues with the healing forces of the body’s natural rhythm.
