The Ingredient

According to the US Surgeon General, magnesium is the most common nutrient deficiency in the American diet.

It is bound to the amino acid glycine, making it very body friendly and highly absorbable.

High doses of this form of magnesium can be taken without the concern for bowel upset. Magnesium is required for over 300 essential biochemical reactions in the body including the formation of ATP, cellular signal transduction, synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. It plays important roles in both structure and function of the human body. Here are some other points about this vitally important mineral:

Magnesium keeps muscles relaxed, including the heart and blood vessels. This makes it extremely beneficial for cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, stroke, angina, congestive heart failure, mitral valve prolapse, arrhythmias, pre-eclampsia.

Magnesium is required for neurotransmitter synthesis (serotonin, melatonin, etc.) along with zinc and vitamin B6. Supplementing with magnesium can have a tremendous impact on anxiety, depression, psychiatric disorders and insomnia.

Magnesium is also involved in adrenal hormone production, which helps to relieve stress, anxiety and panic attacks.

Magnesium, together with calcium, creates nerve and muscle impulses.

Magnesium will help with conditions involving spasms or cramps – muscular cramps, spasms, tension headaches, muscle twitching, restless leg syndrome, PMS, asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic neck and back pain, inflammatory bowel disease.

Magnesium can help in peripheral nerve disturbances throughout the whole body, such as migraines, gastrointestinal spasms and in treating central nervous symptoms of vertigo and confusion, and Raynaud’s Syndrome.

Magnesium is required for calcium to be incorporated into bone, and is therefore important in the treatment of osteoporosis. It also plays a role in healthy teeth development.

Magnesium helps regulate blood sugar levels via its role in carbohydrate metabolism, and its ability to enhance insulin secretion making it beneficial in hypoglycemia and diabetes.

As Magnesium is involved in energy metabolism (ATP), it is necessary for those with fatigue.

Magnesium is important for the removal of toxic substances and heavy metals such as aluminum and lead.

Other conditions that magnesium can help with include: Cystitis (due to bladder spasm), ADD/ADHD/Autism.
